New Web Server Built, Configured and Online

Yesterday when I logged into my primary web server, I noticed several error messages from security updates. Generally when these errors show up, it is because an update did not complete properly. I attempted to rerun the updates with the same errors resulting. Finally attempted to reboot the system and the system would not boot into read / write mode and would not show the graphical interface. Fortunately I was able to log into the system remotely, and was able to retrieve some database backup files as well as the web files for my web sites.

I had already built a spare web server because I had a feeling the original one was about to fail. Today I have been rebuilding the original web server … reinstalling the web and database files. The rebuilt system is almost ready for testing.

The good news is … I didn’t actually lose any of the sermon note files I had added to the server over the last two weeks, but I lost some database entries that I have to reenter. Looks like I lost between 10-20 entries in the database, but I already have most of those finished. Hope to have everything completely restored this week.
