Dale applied to and received approval from the Northern California / Nevada District of the Assemblies of God to start a new church in Reno, Nevada. Since no support or income was in place following the move to Reno, he first sought employment in sales, but soon found more stable income as a workers compensation administrator with the Gibbens Company, a company that administered claims for self-insured employers under Nevada law. He was trained, then assigned to administer claims for Battle Mountain Gold Company, Caesar’s Tahoe, the Fitzgeralds Group and others. He then was asked to become a hearings advocate for the employers in his portfolio and represented those employers in hearings regarding contested claims before an administrative law judge.
Later, he was hired by Bayly, Martin and Faye, a healthcare insurance administer for multiple employers in Reno. In addition to administering claims, he became familiar with the company’s IBM System 38 computer and developed a system on the IDDU database utility that enabled him to automate burdensome reporting requirements by merging data from IDDU with word processing documents.
